Bailey's Ravine, Under the Mountain, and Little Dam

From: (enic@aol.com) | Date: 2000-08-08 11:20:29 UTC-04:00
Well, I finally got Bailey's and Under the Mountain Jay! Happy to see (sort of) that I was the first to stamp at both boxes... except for the moldy cigarett, 25 cents, and 5 marlbourough miles the fisherman left in the under the mountain box with a note. At least he was good enough to rehide the box!

The other day however, my girlfriend and I tried to find Little Dam but found that it was GONE... there was a scattering of rocks next to the oak tree but no box. i'm wondering if the box has been stolen, or is just being refurbished? Not sure who placed it either. Anyone got any news on that one? Would love to know!

I'm also currently in Boston Library typing this and might just get a couple of the metro boxes as well.... depends on how well the moving for my girlfriends father goes. YAY... well.. see you all on the trail.

PS- Sarah may be leaving EMS but the Letterboxing Info Center we have will STAY and will continue! :)

We too tried about a month ago to find the Little Dam Box, it was missing
then. That is also a Drew Box. I'm not sure how long it has been missing,
but I hope it comes back soon!!
We are wondering if the fisherman at Under the Mountain not only loves to
smoke, but maybe also has a thing for Curious George & turtles. We stamped
in to that box back in April. Where did we go :(
Haven't been to Bailey's yet, we'll have to get up there soon.
Well hope Little Dam is back soon so we all can find it.

Wow! Interesting Dan and Melissa! I honestly did not see yer stamps in the
book at Under the Mountain! Unless i 'mis-thumbed' a page. If I did, my
apologies. Anyway, no matter how you look at it I can't take credit for first
stamp there. SO.... i guess I'll have to begin my new 12 part series soon.
Not sure if it'll be a mystery-sequential series or open though. Guess we'll
have to see!

Eric, I think your note about the boxy fisherman is priceless! I'm
not sure how he stumbled across that box unless he was up to
something fishy way off-trail!

Sorry I didn't post a heads-up about Little Dam being washed away
(likely by fishermen as well?). Melissa and Dan had dropped me a note
a month ago. That's a pretty long walk to find the hiding place
scattered and the box gone.

Others that are missing that I know of:
-Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC (plan to replace soon)
-Fort Adams in Newport RI (graciously re-carved and hidden by Phil)
-Box #3 at Quiet Corner in CT
-Box #1 at Traprock House in Holyoke MA
-Lonely Ledge at Seven Falls in Hadlyme CT
